Rev. Dr. Michael Mock

Rev. Dr. Michael Mock

Pastor Mock has come to us from Fayetteville, NC and was installed as our next Pastor on August 18, 2024. Born and raised in Phoenix, AZ, Pastor Mock received his education in AZ. He graduated from Grand Canyon University with a major in Philosophy and a minor in Spanish. Having graduated, he spent the first 14 years of his career as a teacher in charter then Christian schools. He taught Spanish, Greek, Latin, Bible, and Theology, to middle and high school students. While teaching, Pastor Mock went to Phoenix Seminary to earn a Master’s of Biblical Leadership, only to return two years later after sensing a call to the ministry to upgrade his degree to a Master’s of Divinity.

In June of 2018, Pastor Mock became the Associate Pastor of Cross Creek Presbyterian Church (PCA) in Fayetteville, NC, and served in that capacity for the next two years. The Senior Pastor of Cross Creek took another call down South, and Michael soon thereafter became the Senior/Solo Pastor of Cross Creek in 2021. He served in that role until July 31, 2024.

While in NC, Pastor Mock earned a Doctorate of Ministry in Biblical Counseling from Reformed Presbyterian Theological Seminary (RPTS), having completed his degree with his dissertation “Calvin as Counselor.” One of his ministerial emphases is soul-care, the shepherding or counseling of the saints in Christ. To assist him in providing sound, biblical counsel to the people of God, Pastor Mock became a certified biblical counselor through the Association of Certified Biblical Counselors (ACBC) and has earned two specializations in conflict resolution and marriage.

Pastor Mock has been a joyful Presbyterian for many years (since 2010), first as a member of a PCA church, then an intern, a Ruling Elder, and finally a pastor. He did spend two years in the Orthodox Presbyterian Church for two years as well. A distinctive of Presbyterianism is its preaching. Michael enjoys teaching and preaching Christ-exalting, redemptive-historical preaching. He has a heart for biblical counseling, and a deep interest in apologetics and evangelism as an outflow of his love for others to see the beauty of salvation in Jesus Christ.

Last but not least, Michael met his wife Elizabeth when the two were in high school at the age of 16. They’ve been married for 20 years and have 5 children together. They love to read, spend time together as a family, watch the Giants together, enjoy Family Movie Nights, watch their children play sports or dance, and live life as servants of Christ before the face of God for the glory of God and the edification of Christ’s church.
